Week 2: Color Palette || Story Chart

Homework #1: Color Palette

-Pick three images of your choice. Make sure that they are different palettes and images. You switch off and pick one each from photographs, concept/film, and illustration.

-Create the color bars as shown below in relations to the proportions and relationships in the images of choice. (ie. majority of the an image is a blue green then the thickest bar will be that blue green. The smallest color accent is a red orange and the thinnest bar will be that same red orange.)
- Create your own small illustration using the SAME COLOR PROPORTIONS that you have found. It should have the same majority of color and the same accent of color as the images you have chose.

-Use your illustration again but this time you do not have to stick to the same proportions as long as you are using the same palette.

Use the examples below as reference.

Homework #2: Story Chart

Using 'Beauty and the Beast' write down a list of all the key events you can find that allows the story to progress. Using those key events, create a line chart based on the emotional rise and fall of the story. The easiest way of doing this is by create a horizontal middle line that will stand as a neutral zone. Any point that rises above that line will be a happy moment the further it goes up. The further the line goes below the mid-line will tell you how devastating/sad the moment will be.

If you have a different version of the story (but DO NOT CHANGE THE NATURE OF THE ORIGINAL) be ready to propose it to us. You can email us along the way to check if your story will suffice, but make sure it is still Beauty and the Beast.

You are also required to apply colors to each of those moments. You can decide this based on choosing which color would symbolize and element in the story. You can go by emotional color choices (gold:happy // blue:sadness // red:evil) or characters (villain:emerald green // hero:lavender) or Both. Sometimes the main character may have a good guy palette and then as they turn evil they don the bad guy palette. The choice is yours.
